Avoid the Wrong Job

Welcome back! I want to talk to you about a video I watched today, which was about how to avoid the wrong job. I have personally known many people who go into jobs and absolutely hate it! In fact I've been one of those people.

In this video which features Stan Christensen he tells us he seen and interviewed many resumes and people and the one thing he's interested in is the persons story. Why did they make the choices they've made? What made them want to go into what they have? Was it because they needed a job, was it because a parent pushed them towards that career choice? I know a family of teachers, I also know a family of lawyers. I have often wondered what pushed them to those career choices.

So, how do we avoid the wrong job? Pick something you think will be fun! What? Is it really that simple? The point is to do something you enjoy doing everyday. The reason for this is will be because if you are doing something you enjoy doing your doing to do it well, and not just well but very well. You will do what you do very good and you'll prosper in that position. Will you enjoy every aspect of your job? No, we all have things we don't like about our jobs, it might be some procedure or process, but this is your chance to think of a way to improve the process or procedure you don't like. The reason I tell you this is because if you don't like that process or procedure there's probably others who don't like it either.

The other thing I want to touch on right quick is something Stan Christensen touched on and and that was not to become a specialist at one thing, but to become a generalist. The example he uses is when he started using spreadsheets he used Lotus and became a specialist and now not many people even remember Lotus. Excel is the main spreadsheet program we all use. I think we can all name things we were once specialists of and they are now obsolete. Therefore becoming a generalist will allow you to quickly move as needs and technology changes in our ever changing world.

I realize this is a quick post, but it's very simple because we've all heard the saying "Do something you love, and you'll never work a day in your life" Make sure you have fun everyday and make sure you are able to quickly shift and keep moving forward and making progress.

Chase Your Dreams     This week we learned about chasing your dreams and dreaming big. That caused me to pause and think to myself and ask the following questions. Who or what caused me to stop chasing my dreams? and Do I dream big enough?     I remember as a kid I had big dreams and I wanted to chase them and then one day or more like over time things changed. I didn't believe in myself and I didn't dream big anymore and I was no longer chasing my dreams. Dreams don't chase us, we chase our dreams! I realized this week what it takes to make our dreams come to fruition. I'm going to let you in on what it takes to make your dreams come true. Our dreams don't just land in our lap one day or it isn't like Santa and Christmas where you wake up and your dreams are wrapped up in some pretty wrapping paper with a nice beautiful red bow around it. This is how our dreams happen..... are you ready!? It's hard work, long days and late nights, and hard work! Did I me...
MONEY, MONEY, MONEY!!! (What you can do with it and how to get it)     This week I want to talk to you about..... MONEY!!!! Have you every heard of the phrase "Money isn't everything". People who use that saying are in my mind incorrect. To me that's something a person who doesn't have money or has been taught incorrect principles about money would say. I have often said "They say money isn't everything, but you need money for everything." The reason I have said this is because you need money to pay tithing, you need money to help those in need, you need money for food, to pay your mortgage, pay your insurance, put gas in your car, keep the lights on, the list goes on and on.     This week we read an article called "Attitude on Money" by Stephen W. Gibson, in this article he talks about two types of people, those who know what money is for and those who want absolutely nothing to do with it. He also compares it to looking through lenses if ...
