IF YOU CAN DREAM IT, YOU CAN DO IT!

This week I learned about Randy Pausch, who was a professor of computer science. He gave a speech on the a series called The Last Lecture, where he spoke about going for whatever you want and dream of. He did this speech while being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and had only a few month's if not weeks to live. However, you'd never know this, he was doing pushups during this lecture. He looked very healthy, especially for a guy who had a fatal illness.

In this lecture he stated something that really made me think this last week about obstacles. We all have obstacles, whether they are health challenges, financial problems, or just telling ourselves we can't do it. Randy tells us in this Last Lecture a brick wall is there in many cases to show how badly we want something, not to keep us out. Most of us would say, "Well there's a brick wall or an obstacle, it must not supposed to be" Why don't we fight for it? Why do we put our head down, and turn around and go pout in the corner?

Why don't we take the word NO as a challenge?

Alright Johnny just told me No, I'm going to go get my tool belt on and I'm going to work so hard Johnny will never tell me No again.

What did Randy do differently that we don't? He didn't let the brick wall stop him. His parents never told him "Randy, you can't do that!" They encouraged him! He had good mentors. He believed in himself and surrounded himself with those who believed not only in Randy but themselves as well.

Randy said in his Last Lecture speech, "If you lead your life right, the dreams will come to you!" I think what he was trying to say, if you live your life with integrity and a lot of drive and hard work, people who think and dream like you will come to you. "If you build it, they will come" I say if You dream it and work towards that dream God will put those in your path to make that dream come true.

One of my dreams is to make sure my family is financially secure and show my kids with hard work they can achieve anything they want to. I've had several challenges in my life. My next challenge is to over come my fear of failure of starting my own business. That's my dream.

There's a country song out right now and it has a line in it, that is one of the best lines I've heard in a song in several years. "If you've got a dream chase it, cause a dream won't chase you back"

LET'S CHASE THAT DREAM BECAUSE IT WON'T CHASE US!

Chase Your Dreams     This week we learned about chasing your dreams and dreaming big. That caused me to pause and think to myself and ask the following questions. Who or what caused me to stop chasing my dreams? and Do I dream big enough?     I remember as a kid I had big dreams and I wanted to chase them and then one day or more like over time things changed. I didn't believe in myself and I didn't dream big anymore and I was no longer chasing my dreams. Dreams don't chase us, we chase our dreams! I realized this week what it takes to make our dreams come to fruition. I'm going to let you in on what it takes to make your dreams come true. Our dreams don't just land in our lap one day or it isn't like Santa and Christmas where you wake up and your dreams are wrapped up in some pretty wrapping paper with a nice beautiful red bow around it. This is how our dreams happen..... are you ready!? It's hard work, long days and late nights, and hard work! Did I me...
MONEY, MONEY, MONEY!!! (What you can do with it and how to get it)     This week I want to talk to you about..... MONEY!!!! Have you every heard of the phrase "Money isn't everything". People who use that saying are in my mind incorrect. To me that's something a person who doesn't have money or has been taught incorrect principles about money would say. I have often said "They say money isn't everything, but you need money for everything." The reason I have said this is because you need money to pay tithing, you need money to help those in need, you need money for food, to pay your mortgage, pay your insurance, put gas in your car, keep the lights on, the list goes on and on.     This week we read an article called "Attitude on Money" by Stephen W. Gibson, in this article he talks about two types of people, those who know what money is for and those who want absolutely nothing to do with it. He also compares it to looking through lenses if ...
